This list of resources has been organized into four categories: Physical & Sexual Health, Mental Health & Substance Use, Hunger & Food Insecurity, and Housing & Other Services. Although most of these resources are centered in New Haven, many of them are accessible to people living throughout Connecticut. A downloadable version of this list can be found here.

Physical & Sexual Health
FEMA COVID mobile vaccination unit
In the ongoing effort to bring the vaccine to communities and people in socially vulnerable areas, Connecticut opened the country’s first FEMA Mobile Vaccination Unit (MVU) on March 29. The mobile vaccination unit will be available as a pop-up clinic in 17 communities during the months of April and May 2021. Click here to see when the mobile unit will be in your community.
Connecticut Vaccinations
The state-wide website used to track, register, and sign-up for COVID-19 Vaccines. Tools include: using the Vaccine Finder Search Tool, Finding + Booking an Appointment in the Provider’s Scheduling System, and safety FAQs about the vaccinations. A provider is available in the website’s chat function for any questions.

The WFC Sexual Assault Crisis Services (SACS) Program offers support to those who have recently experienced a sexual assault or have been trying to cope with a past sexual assault. They provide a 24-hour crisis hotline available to you when you are in crisis or feeling isolated. Toll free: 1-888-999-5545 (English) and 1-888-568-8332 (En Espanol). Provides support groups, translators, counselors, and peer support for court hearings, hospital appointments, and more.

The HAVEN Free Clinic is a student-run primary care clinic that partners with Yale University to provide the New Haven community access to comprehensive, high-quality health care free of charge. They serve as a sustainable free clinic that provides uninsured adults in New Haven with primary care, wellness education, and assistance in securing health care while simultaneously educating health professional students at Yale about patient care and community health.

Mothers (and Others) For Justice is CCA’s grassroots advocacy group that works to bring about systemic changes in public policy including healthcare. Meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday evening of the month, and those interested in joining need to attend three meetings to become members. Childcare and transportation are provided.
Sex Workers and Allies Network (SWAN)

Provides safer drug use alternatives, needle exchange, and a support van for the survival of sex workers in the New Haven area. SWAN focuses on harm reduction, advocacy, and empowerment, as well as stands for the decriminalization of sex work.

Hours 10 am - 4 AM EST. A trans-led organization that offers direct emotional and financial support to trans people in crisis. Volunteers are also sometimes available during off-hours. Policy against non-consensual rescue so will never call the police without the caller's consent.

Continuum of Care CT

Provides community housing programs, mental health services, and recovery support. Acute services provide short-term alternatives to psychiatric inpatient care. Veterans Crisis program has 24-hour staffing, recovery support groups, intensive care management, and links to transitional and independent housing. Continuum Recovery Services provides a number of immediate support and emotional care options for adults with mental health or co-occurring substance use disorders.
Liberty Community Services

Liberty provides services and programs designed to end homelessness includes such as eviction prevention, security deposit, case management services, and employment services. Liberty provides housing at any point in time to at least 150 individuals with a retention rate of 90%. Some clients are housed at Liberty properties and others in private apartments.

Project M.O.R.E.

Project M.O.R.E.’s mission is to provide a structured and systematic process to reintegrate ex-offenders into the community and to provide services to their families. In providing this service, Project M.O.R.E. works with individuals on parole, probation, bail, and those released from correctional facilities.
